Hardness Tester - The PCE-2000N handheld hardness tester uses the Leeb recovery method. It is a method of dynamic hardness testing in which a standardized test piece, usually a hard metal ball, is struck with a specified impact energy on the test surface.
The impact of a hard metal ball on the test surface leads to plastic deformation of the surface at the point of impact. From this strain leads to energy loss, which is proportional to the stiffness of the workpiece and can be determined by the ratio of recovery to the impact velocity of the test piece.
This technology allows for a compact design, making it particularly suitable for durometers.
