Correct belt installation tension is essential for optimum performance and reliability of multi-ribbed, V-belt and synchronous belt drives. Belt tension gauge sonic 508C from manufacturer Gates processes the input signals and displays the accurate tension measurement digitally.

I. Specification of Belt tension gauge sonic 508C

• Gates’ tension meter 508C is user-friendly: it is compact, computerised and stores data for repetitive use. Gates’ sonic tension meter measures belt tension accurately every time.
• Belt tension gauge sonic 508C is supplied with a handy instruction manual. The Sonic 508C can easily be operated by one person for fast, accurate readings on all types of synchronous belt drive systems and V-belt drives. Simply enter belt mass constant, belt width and span length* into the meter using the built-in keypad. Next, hold the meter sensor just above the belt and lightly strum belt to make it vibrate. Press “measure” button to obtain the reading as a frequency (as hertz) or as a force (pounds or newtons).
• Use the standard cord sensor to reach inside cramped compartments where conventional measurements would be impossible. An optional flexible sensor can be bent and repositioned for convenient, one-hand operation. Use the optional inductive sensor to measure belt tensions in high-noise or windy environments.

• INDUCTIVE SENSOR (PN 7420-00212): The inductive sensor is recommended for measurement particularly in noisy or windy environments. A steel clip to the back of the belt is required to measure the vibration frequency.
