I. Specification NOVOTEST SH concrete elastic hammer

- This Schmidt material hardness test method is based on the effect of the piston acting on a concrete surface with a predetermined (normative) influence on the energy and then the height of the recovery striker is measured. The height of the rebound striker will be proportional to the strength of the concrete. The strength of the concrete is determined using the calibration charts provided with the instrument.
- The Schmidt NOVOTEST SH concrete elastic hammer is easy to operate and has good design reliability and high measuring accuracy, so it is the most popular method for measuring the strength of concrete in the world. The strength test with Schmidt hammer corresponds to ASTM C 805; ASTM D 5873 (for stone); DIN 1048, p. 2; ENV 206; EN 12 504-2; ISO / DIS 8045.
There are several versions of the device, differing in impact energy:
- The most powerful Rebound hammer, used to measure the strength of concrete with thicknesses from 70 to 100mm and beyond, and also to test the strength of large rock blocks with impact energy - 2,207J (Nm). This is the basis and most common model of the Schmidt hammer, about 90% of the Schmidt hammers in the world have the same impact energy.
- The medium rebound hammer has an impact energy of 735J (735 Nm). The impact energy is reduced by three times compared to the base model. The main application of this instrument is to measure the strength of bricks and concrete products with wall thickness less than 100 mm and small sample size, also used to test rock and stone with less strength.
- The minimum rebound hammer with the strongest impact strength is 196J (196Nm). The main purpose is to test the mortar strength of brick masonry.
Depending on the required tasks, it is always necessary for the user to select the correct model of the NOVOTEST SH concrete elastic hammer. All models, independent of the impact energy, are devices for non-destructive testing, therefore they do not destroy the test object.
To verify the accuracy of the Schmidt hammer, a specially calibrated anvil is used. Correct operation instrument must display a certain value of standard anvil test.
