Esco Airstream® biological safety cabinet Gen 3 Class II (AC2) BSC - Series D is equipped with Dual blower for inflow and downflow, which is a redundancy system that provides protection in the event of fan failure.

Cabinet filter system:

• Ambient air is drawn through the front grille to create an inlet without passing over the work surface. The inlet is joined by a downward half, to create a front air curtain that is fine-tuned to create a large performance envelope. The combined airflow passes through the rear air column towards the blower.
  
• About ⅓ of the air in the common room is expelled through the ULPA filter into the room. ⅔ remaining air is passed through a downflow ULPA filter and into the work area as a vertically layered air stream to create an ISO Class 3 work surface and prevent cross contamination.
  
• Near the work surface, the downflow separates. About Half is for the front grille, and half is for the rear grille. A small portion goes into the side snap areas to prevent dead air angles (small blue arrows).
  
• Optimized design for great performance, providing operator and product protection at wide Inflow and Downflow variations from Nominal point.
