Softening temperature meter Vicat & HDT QT-300A is used to measure HDT and Vicat temperature of plastics, hard rubber, nylon, insulating materials, long fiber reinforced composite materials and high strength thermosetting laminate materials.

VST method: The test specimen is placed in a liquid or heating cabinet. It tests the temperature of a standard needle when pressed 1mm into the sample from a tube or fitting under a force of (50 + 1) N with isokinetic heating.
HDT method: The test piece is subjected to a three-point bending either vertically or horizontally giving the flexural strength specified in the relevant section GB/T1634. Under the isokinetic constant temperature condition, it measures the temperature when it reaches the standard deflection corresponding to the increased bending strain.
